26 Best INFP Anime Characters Ultimate List

Posted on January 26, 2022

INFPs are people that are known for their kind hearts and their unwavering sense of justice. With a personality type of INFJ, these anime characters stay true to their beliefs, even when the world is against them. We love them for it!

With the INFP personality type ranking fairly high in terms of numbers (making up around 8% of the population), it’s no surprise that several popular anime characters are associated with this Myers-Briggs personality trait. If you’re not sure what your personality type is, there’s a quiz you can take here to determine your MBTI Anime personality type. In general, INFP characters will tend to be a bit more introverted than those with other types.

Anime is one of the most popular ways to relax, unwind and enjoy yourself. It’s also a great way to learn more about personality traits that you may not be familiar with — such as the MBTI system. This can be especially helpful for INFPs who want to get to know their type better. So without further ado, here is our list of the best INFP anime characters of all time. Vote up your favorites or add any we missed!

1/26. Ken Kaneki (Tokyo Ghoul)

Ken Kaneki is the kind of guy who likes to read books in the library, doesn’t talk to people, and keeps to himself. Even when he became a Ghoul, his personality trait didn’t change dramatically (as it should have), and he stayed like he was before. Yep, totally sounds like an INFP.

2/26. Rem (Death Note)

‘Rem’ is a Japanese pop-metal band with a twist — their lead singer is actually the infamous Second Kira, Misa Amane! Originally a Shinigami in life, as fate would have it she somehow dropped her Death Note into the hands of Second Kira. This popular new band sings songs about Light Yagami’s perspective on the Kira case, which probably wouldn’t be released without Misa’s backing.

Light Yagami, a brilliant teenager who has always had to hide his intellect, manipulates his way into becoming the greatest detective in the world. Unfortunately, this leads him to kill someone in order to protect his identity and is forced to die a lonely death.

3/26. Light Yagami (Death Note)

Light Yagami is the name of the main character in Death Note. In the anime, Light is a genius who gets perfect scores on all exams he takes, and immediately deduces that criminals are evil from his first encounter with one. He finds a ‘Death Note’ notebook in his room, and begins killing criminals whose names are written in it — this practice becomes Light’s life goal as he seeks to rid the world of evil.

Kira was a young boy who had just started high school, when his mother suddenly died in a car crash. As he grieved for her, he also wondered why she had been driving so late at night. He decided to solve the mystery, and began by investigating the crash.

L was a smart detective that was confident in his connections, but he knew he didn’t have enough evidence to prove that Light was Kira. However, he still worked with Light on several cases and tried to help him; even knowing the risks involved. Yagami believed that he was a god that would punish criminals in the world.

4/26. Armin Arlert (Attack On Titan)

Armin is one of the main characters from Attack on Titan. A young boy who joined the military after his hometown was destroyed by titans and he lost his mother forever. Armin specializes in devising strategies and plans that help him climb the ranks of the Survey corps despite having poor battle skills.

Armin loves to be around his friends, especially when there’s a titanic situation afoot. When Attack on Titan was just an idea, Armin was the first person to draw up titan-proof walls — that way, no one would have to worry about Titans ever again. He’s a smart guy who enjoys discussing tactics with fellow members of the Survey Corps.

5/26. Shizuki Tsukishima (Whisper Of The Heart)

14-year old Shizuki Tsukishima isn’t like most kids her age. She spends her time reading books and writing alternate lyrics to her favorite songs, creating an entire fantasy world where she has more than enough friends. But when she’s called out during class by a teacher, she feels like there’s something missing from her life.

Her alternative lyrics became a laughing stock after a boy who stole them spread them. She fights this battle, but it’s hard because she doesn’t want to become a bad person. Still, she manages to keep her integrity. That’s why she falls in love with the guy who reads all the books she reads, because their relationship is based on knowing what she likes and feeling inspired by her.

6/26. Chifuyu (Tokyo Revengers)

Chifuyu is a loyal, hard-working leader to the core. He is an ace fighter on his own but knows when to lean on others for help. This trait has proven to be highly effective as he and his squad are continually promoted through the ranks of their gang. Chifuyu knows his way around street fights and is constantly looking for opportunities to flex his muscles.

A well-known double agent among his former gang, Baji can no longer be identified as such when the two gangs begin fighting. Chifuyu had suspected that Baji was a mole from the beginning, but her suspicions are confirmed only at the end of the battle when it’s too late for anyone to help Baji.

7/26. Gaara (Naruto)

Gaara, the Kazekage of the Hidden Sand Village and beloved leader of his people, was voted the most likely INFP by readers seeking to better understand what their best friend types would be. Better still? He’s without a doubt my type as well — which led me to do some researching about what exactly an INFP is, and how the hell Gaara fits that bill.

Not all entrepreneurs are the same. See, one entrepreneur may be ready to make a deal with the devil for that business deal of life. Another may be more power-hungry — their drive will get them to the top, but at what cost? The third kind of entrepreneur is already there — they’ve climbed their way up from the bottom, and know exactly how to get there again.

8/26. Alphonse Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist/ Brotherhood)

Alphonse Elric, older brother of Edward Elric, was caught up in his sibling’s experiments to resurrect their mother. Despite being against the use of alchemy for such a purpose, he encouraged his younger brother to continue, and so the two attempted human transmutation. The experiment failed and Alphonse lost his entire body — save for his soul.

His sense of justice is so strong that he’s pretty much a superhero. His personality helps him make new friends who are loyal to him, and will stop at nothing to help him achieve his goal of getting his old body back. He has made quite the name for himself, simply by kicking butt!

9/26. Hinata Hyuga (Naruto Series)

Hinata Hyuga is the heiress of the Hyuga clan, who believe they are the mightiest in the village. Shy, but with a hidden passion for defending her village and Naruto, she isn’t your average girl. Shy, but with a hidden passion for defending her village, she isn’t your average ninja.

Despite her shortcomings and weaknesses, Hinata was determined to become strong. This determination is best shown in the instance where she protected Naruto from Pain, when she put on a brave face for him despite the fact that Naruto was about to leave her behind.

10/26. Yamaguchi (Haikyu)

Let’s talk about a character that a lot of people have trouble with: Yamaguchi. And let me tell you, I count myself among the ranks of those who find him…difficult. In truth, he’s actually one of the more straightforward characters in Haikyu!. He just gets overshadowed by his fantastic teammates.

Yamaguchi, the best friend and manager on the team, helps Kai figure out his style of play. Together, they manage to bring some new life to the once-dead volleyball club and make it fun again. The other characters are interesting, too — especially the captain, Tachibana! He’s a hothead but has a heart of gold. You’ll love him.

11/26. Chiyuki (Death Parade)

Chiyuki is the protagonist of Death Parade — an anime with a greater vision than a lot of its contemporaries. While it defies genres and isn’t afraid to pull off some bold moves in terms of story, it does all that whilst maintaining a thick vein of humanity within every episode and scene. Why are you still reading this? Go watch Death Parade!

Chiyuki has a lot of disagreements with Decim (mostly because she’s constantly frustrated by his indifference to the human world around him), but it’s worth it. Having been given a second chance at life, her life’s goal is to make amends for her mistakes in the past and act as his guide in this human world.

12/26. Junpei (Jujutsu Kaisen)

Junpei was one of the most bullied kids in school. Though he went through his troubles, he never let that stop him. He kept on going to school, and was content with his life. That is until one day, when a friend came to visit him and tell him about a cute girl…

The protagonist and his new friend, Mahito, become fast friends. However, as our hero learns more and more about his new pal, he begins to see an ugly side of him: an evil, homicidal side. Unfortunately, dear reader, the protagonist has no choice but to part ways with his once-friend. But before that can even happen, Mahito manages to disgustingly disfigure our poor hero!

13/26. Erwin Smith (Attack On Titan)

Erwin Smith, the commander of the Survey Corps and mankind’s last hope, had a dream: that humanity would one day be free from their shackles. He believed this was impossible, until the day he met a young man with tired eyes who possessed the power to change everything.

He was a genius who was ten steps ahead of the enemy, but he still had to sacrifice men and his arm (and was rewarded with more trouble, to boot). He was prepared to give up on his life if needed, but ended up sacrificing his dream and his own health in order to save the others.

14/26. Shikamaru Nara (Naruto Series)

Shikamaru Nara is a key part of the hit manga and anime franchise Naruto. He uses his intellect to overcome challenges, and often leads his team to victory with his superb strategic thinking. A reserved person who only talks when needed, Nara’s got your back, no matter what: he’ll always be there for you, no matter what!

Shikamaru Nara was an unlikely hero, but his plans were still essential to the future of the ninja world. As a leader of his generation, Shikamaru grasped the challenges facing the kids of his day, and also learned how to overcome them. He played a significant role in the battle against evil, and helped lead his team to victory.

15/26. Levy Mcgarden (Fairy Tail)

Levy McGarden is a girl with a lot of smiles and cheer. She’s got long, flowing hair, likes to wear bright colored clothes, and is known as someone who’s really down-to-earth. She spends most of her time reading books and writing love letters to other book lovers around the world, and she hopes to one day make enough money off her books that she can travel the world and read new books in every country.

No one can forget the time she and her team were kidnapped, tortured and put through mental anguish. But guess what? That same time was spent developing a business plan for her friends when they all came back. And that’s why she became CEO.

16/26. Killer (One Piece)

Killian Jones, also known as Captain Hook, is a pirate and member of the Pirate Brethren. He serves as the main antagonist of Peter Pan, but takes a more supportive role in Return to Neverland as he realizes that he is not needed for his ship to fly. Though he seems gruff and mean, there are several hints that his appearance may disguise a rather soft heart.

17/26. Nagato/Pain (Naruto Shippuden)

Nagato was a ninja who recognized that wars and hatred ruined the lives of many children. Nagato himself had lost his parents, and his friends had been taken in by Jiraiya, a famous ninja. It is thought that Nagato awakened the most powerful eye ability in the world: the Rinnegan. This gave him great fighting power, but what he really wanted was to make the world a better place for kids everywhere.

Going right or left on the highway of life. This is the choice we have to make every day. What path do we wish to take? If we take the road to peace without hurting anyone, it can lead us down a perilous spiral that ultimately brings pain, suffering and death. Many innocent people got caught up in Pain’s spiral as he built his organization, Konoha’s Akatsuki.

18/26. Neji Hyuga (Naruto Series)

Neji Hyuga was a member of the branch family of the Hyuga clan, but lost his father and his sister at a young age. Despite losing everything he cared about, Neji believed that hard work could change your destiny — if you persevered. He even placed in the top spot amongst his peers! But never one to let his guard down, Neji’s philosophy was the result of an early trauma that hardened him against the world.

The branch family’s destiny seemed sealed. But believing talent alone was important, he refused to give up. Harnessing hard work and dedication, he took down an out of control Naruto — the leader of his clan, and a kid who would go on to change the world.

Neji started out as a cold, heartless ninja who was only loyal to his clan because it was his birthright. He felt no attachment to any other person except for Hizashi, his father, and shunned anyone else who was not like him. However, after finding out the truth of his father’s death in the war, Neji realized there was more to being a ninja than just gaining power.

19/26. Shigeo “Mob” Kageyama (Mob Psycho 100)

Young boy Shigeo Kageyama, and a monster! He finds out that his emotions have power within his body — so much power in fact, that he accidentally hurts those around him. But he’ll learn to control that power, and use it to help others!

Thomas is a socially awkward person, but he’s found his (warped) niche in the world. When Thomas was personally tested in a scientific experiment, he discovered the extent of his powers. A few years later, he decided to make friends. He makes special friends that he’s willing to risk his life for — and does.

20/26. Crona (Soul Eater)

Crona is a character from the anime Soul Hunter, who has endured severe mistreatment and abuse, causing them to become a villain. Their mental illness, which manifests as a result of the abuse they received in the past, causes them to become a mentally ill, villainous being—but they are also shown to have some good in them.

Crona is a young, masked killer who has strong emotions, but lacks the ability to express them. They meet friends and even though they take a while to warm up to them, they become attached. Crona has changed and opts not to kill anyone after realizing that blood and killing is not the only thing in life.

21/26. Shinji Ikari (Evangelion)

Shinji Ikari is a sensitive, caring and considerate person who works hard to achieve what he believes in. Like many INFJs, he experiences retreats into his own mind as a way to cope with the difficulties of being ‘on duty’ for most of his life. He may be selfless, but taking care of himself is vital to remaining strong and healthy. He finds support from his friends and family, preferring to communicate or work in groups rather than alone.

22/26. Shizuku Tsukishima (Whisper of the Heart)

One of the most relatable moments in ‘your name.’ comes when Mitsuha holds up her phone to discover that someone has forgotten to text her. At that moment, we all can relate. We’ve all been there before — sitting at home, waiting for a message from a friend, only for it to be unanswered. Then, because you can’t help it, you race through your phone, checking every platform you have.

23/26. Euphemia Li Britannia (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion)

Euphemia is a dreamer, not a doer. She’s the kind of person who’s so concerned with doing good that she never actually gets anything done. Her dream world is perfect, but in ours there are all kinds of problems that need solving. You know who’ll fix them? Someone who’s actually willing to get out of bed and work on them. Euphemia will never be #1 at anything.

24/26. Akane Tsunemori (Psycho-Pass)

Looking inward to try to understand why she does the things she does. Akane often butts heads with her best friend, a Type A detective named Booker. Like many ISTPs, Booker is driven by her superior’s expectations and her own fondness for the thrill of a good fight. While Akane is bookish, quiet, and doesn’t like conflict, Booker is loud and defiant and loves a good brawl.

25/26. Mitsuha Miyamizu (Your Name)

Mitsuha has always been beholden to the conventions of her rural town, but the girl has big dreams. Dreams that only get bigger when her body starts swapping with that of Taki, a young man living far away in Tokyo. Their youthful ambitions place them in stark contrast to their peers — one boy chasing an ethereal dream and the other a pragmatic one — but both are unwilling to conform to the norms around them.

26/26. Tamaki Amajiki (My Hero Academia)

INFPs are often portrayed as ‘good’ or ‘perfect’ characters in film and TV, but Tamaki Amajiki, from the anime Ouran High School Host Club , is a perfect example of an INFP superhero. He doesn’t brag about his abilities or find ways to show off for others, but instead modestly uses them for good. INFPs will relate to his authenticity and idealistic nature.
